Football’s Top 5 Clubs Made $4.2B Last Season, 3x Uber & Adidas’ Profits and Bigger Than Coca-Cola’s Ad Budget

For more than two decades, European football clubs have been raking in billions. Still, the 2023/2024 season created football history, with Real Madrid becoming the first football club to surpass the €1 billion revenue mark in a single season. While the other top-earning clubs were a few hundred million short of that milestone, their combined revenue was still mind-blowing.

According to data presented by Betideas.com, the five highest-grossing clubs, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, generated a combined €4.2 billion last season. That’s three times more than the annual profits of Uber or Adidas and even more than Coca-Cola’s entire global advertising budget.

Top 5 Clubs Earned €11.5 Million Per Day

Europe’s top-tier football clubs have grown accustomed to eye-watering revenues, but the 2023/24 season took things to another level. Real Madrid hit the €1 billion revenue milestone, something no other club ever achieved. The club’s financial success last season was fueled by the newly renovated and expanded Bernabéu Stadium, which significantly boosted matchday and commercial revenue.

Other top-grossing clubs weren’t that far behind, at least by football standards. According to Deloitte`s 2025 Football Money League report, Manchester City ranked second with €837 million in revenue last season. Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich followed with €805.9 million, €770.6 million, and €765 million, respectively. Together, these five clubs have raked in more than €4.2 billion.

To put this into perspective, that is four times more than the annual profit of the sports giant Adidas and 2.5 times more than that of the ride-hailing, food delivery, and logistics giant Uber. The combined revenue of the top five clubs is even higher than the total amount of money Coca-Cola spends on advertising in a year. The company, known for its gigantic ad budget, spent €3.5 billion on ads last year, or €700 million less than the top five football clubs.

Breaking this figure down further also highlights the immense financial power of the football industry. Based on the 2023/2024 season revenue, the top five clubs raked in €11.5 million every single day, or nearly half a million euros per hour.

A Massive 40% Revenue Surge in Just Five Years

Football clubs have always been big-money players, but comparing their revenues to global giants like Adidas, Uber, and Coca-Cola wasn’t always possible. However, most have seen astonishing financial growth over the past few years.

While revenues of Europe`s top-tier football clubs have always been impressive, comparing them with those of giants like Adidas, Uber, and Coca-Cola wasn`t always possible. These clubs have seen a surge in revenue over the past years, and Deloitte’s data show just how big that jump was.

Just five years ago, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich collectively generated €2.99 billion, or 40% less than last season. With commercial and broadcast revenues soaring season after season, this gap will undoubtedly grow even further.
