Although the combined transfer spending across the Big Five European leagues for the 2024/25 season saw a 10% decrease year-over-year, Europe’s top-tier clubs still paid close to €11 billion on signing new players. Almost 30% of that value came from the Premier League, undoubtedly the biggest spender. However, no club is even close to Real Madrid when it comes to the team’s total transfer value or the average transfer value per player.
According to data presented by Betideas.com, Real Madrid has the highest average transfer value per player of €50.8 million, 34% more than Manchester City and twice that of Chelsea FC.
Real Madrid Has 55% Higher Average Transfer Value Per Player than the Top 10 Clubs` Average
Europe’s top-flight clubs have paid tens of billions of euros to sign new players since transfer spending took off twenty years ago. These mega-deals are getting crazier each year, pushing the total transfer value of some teams to shocking highs. Still, none of them is even close to Spanish football giant Real Madrid.
As a global footballing powerhouse, Real Madrid has always had an elite collection of high-value talent, with the club’s A team consistently ranking among the most expensive squads in the world of football. But the difference between Real Madrid’s average transfer value per player and those of other football giants is still quite impressive.
According to CIES Football Observatory data, Real Madrid’s average transfer value per player hit €50.8 million as of October, 55% more than the top 10 clubs` average of €32.7 million. Far below, Manchester City ranked second with the average transfer value per player of €37.7 million. Statistics show Arsenal was the only club close to that figure, with €36 million in average transfer value per player.
Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen ranked fourth and fifth with €32.3 million and €31.9 million, respectively. Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United hit around €30 million in average transfer value, while FC Barcelona and Chelsea followed with €28.1 million and €25.7 million. Statistics show Tottenham Hotspur had the lowest average transfer value per player among the top ten clubs at €23.3 million, or twice less than the leading Real Madrid.
Real Madrid’s Team Transfer Value hit €1.72 Billion, €300 Million more than Manchester City or Chelsea
The Spanish football giant also tops in team’s combined transfer value. According to CIES Football Observatory, Real Madrid’s squad hit a combined transfer value of €1.72 billion last month, or €300 million more than the second and third-ranked Manchester City and Chelsea. Statistics show Manchester City’s squad value hit €1.47 billion, while Chelsea followed with just as impressive €1.38 billion.
Statistics also show that seven of the top ten clubs had a combined team transfer value of over one billion euros. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayer Leverkusen were below that mark, with valuations of €989 million, €886 million, and €862 million, respectively.
